Fight Hot Flashes

May 31st, 2009

Either struggling with premenopause or persevering postmenopause, a woman is likely fighting the frustration of hot flashes.

While they are irritating when you suffer them coming on at different times during the day, they will be even more irritating when they occur without your being consciously aware of it in the night.

Despite how natural night sweats may be, the clammy, damp sheets never get any more pleasant. My mom’s physician once attempted to comfort her by discussing how these sweats were just her system eliminating extra toxins and thus she may enjoy a kind of increased sense of feeling cleansed.

Perhaps this is accurate, but it sounds like a story intended to comfort her rather than a way to address the infuriating process of waking to a chilly, clammy sleep.

Thankfully, in recent years more genuine and willing awareness of women’s health matters have developed to a point where a much wider part of the health industry now studies and provides various therapies to help women in their battles with menopause hot flashes.

We are developing more and more widespread utilization of safe, natural therapies and hopefully more and more clinical testing of these treatments to verify their usefulness. There are now a number of safe methods for you to attempt, thus I encourage you to be more proactive in addressing your discomfort.

I suggest you do something about it, though. You might begin to feel futile and just chalk it up to another inevitability of life, but this doesn’t need to be case. Plus, your entire body and psyche will be stressed and challenged as you tolerate perimenopause, so willingly subjecting yourself to another nuisance like night sweats just isn’t necessary.

DISCLAIMER: I do wish my blogging my little story helps somebody out there, but please note that I am not a doctor so you must consult with a medical doctor before taking any medical advice from the online world.

Donating Car Parts and Broken Autos To Charities

May 31st, 2009

After the updating of the laws concerning vehicle donations to charity, cars that are not running have been donated at a lower rate than was the case only some years ago, but even so, it doesn’t mean you have to keep that old car. It’s still possible to donate it to charity, albeit the tax deduction reward has been considerably reduced.

Normally, when you donate a vehicle that no longer runs, it will get towed away and sold, in essence, as a parts car. Though the majority of auto donations for autos in such a state are handled by a third-party (usually a for-profit company) agent as opposed to the charity itself, you are still able to get the old jalopy hauled away.

Nevertheless, you should know that that the deduction value which you can claim for a car sold on the wholesale market is considerably limited by the fractional amount it is likely to be sold for in addition to the overhead fees that are taken off the top by a third-party agent, the remaining value that is in fact given to the charity from the sale of the donated automobile is the extent of what may be written off under the new laws.

Ordinarily, the highest values for donated vehicles are obtained for cars and trucks that are still roadworthy, although some agencies will take some broken down cars and trucks for repair. If you can find an organization that has an ongoing mission of automotive training, even a non-working car has the possibility to be deducted at the higher “fair market value” in such cases.

Consequently, no matter how much it’s not running, such donated vehicles are still accepted by a numerous charities which accept automobile donations. Frequently, they will be bigger or national charities that don’t have a particular mission based on getting running cars to people. Unless there’s something especially cool or unique about your donated vehicle that would make it an ideal project car, you can presume that it will be sold for scrap or parts at a wholesale auction.

In spite of alterations to the law, there are still a lot of places that accept donated cars that are no longer running. The thing you have to consider is whether or not it has possibility of being fixed up for sale as a running vehicle.

I’m so glad! my great new dental policy finally went into effect!

May 31st, 2009

Whew, my outstanding dental plan has just turned on!

It’s been so long since the last time I was insured that I’ve unfortunately found myself suffering from a great deal of dental pain. Fortunately, my new employer provides an insurance policy that is just completely out of this world. So, I’ll be getting my dental problems corrected immediately. My policy is so comprehensive, in fact, that I’m honestly pondering going above and beyond just the realm of family dentistry work and maybe getting some cosmetic dentistry work also. My kids have been asking about getting some some straightening or some laser tooth whitening, so we’ll see what sort of dough we’d have to lay down on dentists who do that sort of thing.

The major difficulty, of course, is how to find a good dentist close to home. It makes me feel bad admitting it, but my family doesn’t even have a regular family dentist that we know we can trust. We live in Tampa, Florida, so I’ve been on the lookout for a Tampa FL dentist that is good with kids and has a a lot of good experience with the things we’re looking for. It’s tough to find! There are a lot of things you have to think about when you’re searching for a dentist. Like, for example, I’m not sure if I would want to go to a dentist who didn’t get the majority of his experience in another area of medicine.

As far as the advanced dental practices go, I’ve really been thinking about getting some done. The new more modern techniques have certainly been taking off over the past few years or so. All the time I’ve been hearing about them on TV, how much better they are than the more old-fashioned dentistry techniques. I’ve been looking around the internet for “dental implants Tampa” and I’m pretty sure the techniques and equipment they use is pretty far past what you would have expected to get twenty years ago, so I’m hoping that my family will be able to enjoy such advanced dentistry now that I have a good job. No more Tampa dental emergency for us!

Interesting Prague

May 28th, 2009

The capital of the Czech Republic is one of the most important historical preservation areas in central Europe. Prague’s unique urban heart has been a UNESCO world cultural and natural heritage site since 1992.

Prague is a great city for those in love. Traces of the city’s history are found on nearly every corner.

A stroll through the Old City past Powder Tower (1475), the old town hall and other equally marvellous baroque architectural treasures leads to the Charles Bridge, one of the most photographed in the world.

Prague Castle was erected on the Hradshin River by a landowner called Premysl sometime around 870, and Prague soon became the seat of the House of Premysl.

Vratislav I, the first Bohemian king, transfered the royal household to Vysehrad Castle in 1085, probably due to a fight for power with his brother, Bishop Jaromir.

Prague Castle remained the seat of the bishops of Prague for decades. The Cathedral of St. Vitus, another early building, is also located on the castle grounds.

Prague expands.

Protected by the two castles, a sea of German and Jewish businessmen and local craftsmen led to rapid growth on both sides of the Muldau River. The largest fortified area was near the already ancient Prague Castle. Prague received its city charter in 1234 from King Wenceslas I, who made it his primary residence.

Shortly thereafter, the “New Town” districts of Mala Strana and Hradshin were ffounded. The fourteenth century brought yet more prosperity to Prague. In 1348 the first university in central Europe was founded here, Charles University, named after Emperor Charles IV.

In the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, Prague was torn apart by two religious wars. The Hussite Wars (1419-1437) and the Thirty Years War (1618-1648) left bad memories.

The events that set off both of these wars started in Prague. These include the famous “defenestrations”, in which Catholic officials and dignitaries were thrown out of windows by dissenters, the first time by Hussites, followers of rebel reformer Jan Hus, and later by Protestants, setting off the Thirty Years War.

The victims of the first defenestration did not fall far, but landed in the arms of a mob waiting outside to lynch them. The second time was from an upper story, but the Catholics were saved because they fell into a heap of manure. From the Catholic viewpoint, divine intervention had intervened. The two long, debilitating wars slaughtered hundreds of thousands, setting back development for generations. Like other afflicted cities, Prague lost most of its international standing during this time.

Prague in Spring-Time.

In 1945, Prague became the capital of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Czechoslovakia. Communist leadership caused a deep-seated financial crisis: the Soviet central planning bureau contributed to nearly complete economic stagnation.

In the spring of 1968, public criticism grew and much of the population became increasingly disenchanted. Street demonstrations of the “Prague Spring” were news all over the world.

Ultimately, power struggles within the ruling party led to the invasion of Prague by Warsaw Pact troops on 21 August 1968, and the brief period of expression was ruthlessly ended.

It would be 1989 before Prague broke away from Russian control, and in 1993 was named capital of an independent Czech Republic.

Positive Signs as Barclays Buys 9.5 million shares in Discover Leisure

May 28th, 2009

Barclays Bank have increased their share holdings in the outdoor leisure company Discover Leisure (DISL) after recently purchasing an additional 9.5 million shares.

“Presumably, Barclays think they are a viable investment opportunity. None of this indicates an undue likelihood of imminent collapse of the company, although in the current economic situation, this could probably not be ruled out entirely for a great many businesses”

Discover over the past week or so have made their country wide operations more lean by closing some of the smaller stores nationwide, while keeping hold of their core, larger sites which means they are well setup to weather out the current worldwide financial storm.

Furthermore, the leisure industry, especially in the UK has been hit quite hard and with little to no help or goverment intervention many of Discover’s competitors have fell by the way side and gone under. This again shows positive signals for Discover shares and profitability due to less supply and greater current demand due to holiday makers looking for more cheaper, closer to home holiday getaways rather than booking holidays abroad, which has been covered by the BBC news and the Financial Times.

For Discover Leisure (DISL) share holders, although the current share price isn’t great, but bearing the above factors in mind, these are great reasons to hold on to your shares, if not buy while at a bargain price before they find their feet again and regain something like their original share price from 1 year plus ago, the rewards will be substantial.

Taking Care of Your Older Horse

May 27th, 2009

If you have ever owned a horse or regularly ride one, you have come to realize what wonderful animals they are. Horses are smart and have an amazing memory. Once they know you and trust you, they will be loyal for life. There are many stories of how horses have saved their owner’s lives.

Owning such a horse gives years of fun and companionship. For this reason, when they age it is important to continue this relationship by looking after your senior horse.

Just as we humans notice temperature changes more as we age, it is important to be sensitive to the conditions that your horse is in at this stage of their lives. They aren’t able to do as well with extreme temperature changes. It’s always a good idea to keep a blanket handy in the colder days especially if you live in a higher elevation or where there are cold seasons. In the same way be sure to provide at least one or two shady spots where your horse can escape from the direct sun.

Unless there is a medical reason it is good for your horse to stay active. Although he might not be working, exercise is essential to keep limber, make use of their lungs and other body parts as well as having the joy of experiencing the world around them. Turning him out will also keep the weight gain low and his spirits high.

As your horse ages, his body will go through various changes. This includes his stomach and digestive system. It is essential to feed your horse in with these changes in mind. There are several great supplements in the market that make up for deficiencies in nutrient absorption of senior horses. A favorite is TAHITIAN NONI® Equine EssentialsTM. One of the things that it does is promotes proper feed digestion and nutrient absorption. Another great feature is it supports the equine immune system with superior antioxidant activity.

Have you ever noticed that many senior horses stress easier? My favorite feature of TAHITIAN NONI® Equine EssentialsTM is that it contains adaptogens to help relieve stress. They are much calmer and relaxed. TAHITIAN NONI® Equine Essentials FlexTM was formulated with horses who suffer from joint problems. It supports joint function but also includes MSM, glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate as well as the Omega 3 and 6 oils found in the TAHITIAN NONI® Equine EssentialsTM. It has given many a horse a new lease on life. In Australia its trade name is Tahitian Noni™ Equine Formula™  .

Horses can have happy and healthy lives into their 30’s and 40’s if given the proper care, love and support.

the main Electromyography (Elettromiografia) website

May 27th, 2009

The electromyography (Elettromiografia) is a diagnostic method that allows to study the peripheral nervous system (PNS) from the functional point of view, and is supportive diagnostic and treatment of many neurological diseases.

Electromyography (EMG) is a technique for study the activation signal of muscles. EMG is performed using an instrument called elettromiografo , to produce a record called an electromyogram. An electromyograph detects the electrical potential generated by muscle cells when these cells are mechanically active, and also when the cells are at rest.

The sequence of the various measurements is not fixed for each disease presented, but may vary based on the results obtained gradually.

The electromyographic study makes use of two stages: the Elettroneurografia (ENG) and the electromyography (EMG)

The ENG (Elettroneurografia) is the study of the neurophysiological parameters of nerve conduction . The conduct can be examined from a sensory or motor. In the first case (sensitive) measures the ability to provide information to higher centers collected from peripheral endings. In the second case (motor) measures the ability to send commands to the various muscles engines.

The EMG (electromyography) is the recording of electrical muscle.

Both methods allow you to:

• locate noise ratio .

• identify the underlying pathological process is (what are the causes?)

• characterize the deficit .

• assess the seriousness of the deficit .

• monitor the course of the disease

• To provide a prognosis

• assess the effectiveness of therapies taken

Disclaimer: This posting is based on information freely available in the popular press and medical journals that deal with electromyography. Is SEO dead?

May 26th, 2009

I was reading a thread at a big webmaster forum yesterday which made the claim that “SEO is dead.” Now, it’s hard to say whether or not the original poster was being serious or sarcastic, but he referenced some other news he’d been reading on a few authority sites that made the “dead” claim.

The notion was that, because of the prevalence of Web 2.0 community sites, the idea of needing to optimize for any of the engines was going away — and fast. The idea was also put forth by another poster that, because of the huge number of content management systems that are already setup to be “search engine friendly”, the need to have any additional knowledge to rank well was quickly diminishing.

My answer to all this? Poppycock.

First, while it is true that there are many CMS programs that are search engine friendly out of the box, on-page factors matter so little to ranking (at least in Google) that even if the on-page playing field was leveled, it would make little difference in the current search engine results.

Second, SEO is about far more than just what’s on the page. The way you analyze what keywords are worth optimizing for, the way you write the content around those keywords, and the links you get to the pages that you want to rank for those keywords all have a large role to play in how much traffic you get from the search engines — and that analysis takes specialized knowledge. Anyone can learn to do it, but it does have to be learned.

Third, and most importantly, Web 2.0 is nice, and sites that revolve around that kind of community are huge traffic mongers (e.g. YouTube), but there will always be a need for full-text indexing of the web.

So is SEO dead? Nope. It’s alive and well, and will be for as long as people need to search for information on the web.
